Job Summary:
The Public Health Emergency Planner is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and coordination of emergency management plans and procedures specific to public health emergencies. This role plays a vital role in enhancing the community's readiness and response capabilities to effectively manage public health crises. The Public Health Emergency Planner collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all emergency plans align with established guidelines and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive emergency response plans and procedures specific to public health emergencies, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
2. Collaborate with internal and external partners to identify and assess potential public health risks, vulnerabilities, and hazards.
3. Conduct risk assessments and gap analyses to identify areas for improvement in emergency response plans.
4. Coordinate and facilitate emergency preparedness exercises, drills, and simulations to test the effectiveness of response plans.
5. Provide guidance and support to public health agencies, healthcare providers, and community organizations in emergency preparedness and response initiatives.
6. Monitor and analyze emerging public health threats and disseminate relevant information to internal and external stakeholders.
7. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices, regulations, and guidelines related to public health emergency planning.
8. Contribute to the development and implementation of public health emergency training programs.
9. Evaluate and analyze the effectiveness of emergency response plans and recommend improvements based on lessons learned.
10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in public health, emergency management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Proven experience in emergency management or public health emergency planning.
3. In-depth knowledge of emergency management principles, practices, and regulations.
4. Strong understanding of public health emergency response systems and strategies.
5. Proficient in conducting risk assessments and developing emergency response plans.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically under pressure.
7. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
8. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
